PSA screening detects less aggressive stages of prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is considered the second most common cancer among men, and every year nearly 29,000 men die from the disease.

A recent retrospective study suggests that Annual PSA screening is very important. This conclusion is based on observation that men who undergo annual this test are three times less likely to die from prostate cancer during the next 10 years than men who do not undergo testing.

Is PSA test very complicate? Not al all, it is a simple blood test, but it would appear to discover prostate cancer at a less aggressive stage. Discovering it in an earlier formation, annual PSA test may lower the risk of dying from prostate cancer.

The ACS (American Cancer Society) and the AUA (American Urological Association) have both recommended this annual PSA screening of men older than 50 years. Many heath care providers also believe in this necessity stressing that the cost is not worth the number of life-threatening less aggressive diseases that are detected by annual screening.
