Some basic rules in your kitchen
Wash your hands with hot soapy water for at least 20 seconds before preparing food...enough time to sing Happy Birthday twice!
Don't let juices from raw meat, poultry or seafood come in contact with cooked foods or foods that will be eaten raw like fruits or salads.
Check the date on products and use the product before the date stamped on the package.
Always cook any meat or poultry in an oven set at 325 degrees or higher.
Keep hot foods above 140 degrees in warming trays.
Keep cold foods below 40 degrees by nestling them in bowls of ice or in the refrigerator. Do not allow foods to sit at room temperature for more than two hours.
If your kitchen was a restaurant, would it pass a health inspector's test? when you get sick from eating something bad, the first question you ask is, where did I eat, last? Considering you probably eat or prepare most of your meals at home, you may want to think about cleanliness in your own kitchen.
