What is laser hair removal

Laser hair removal is a relatively new procedure that removes the hair from the body making use of lasers.

The hand helded device used by the practitioner emits a laser, a beam a light, that infiltrates into the skin and it is retained by the pigment color. Then, all laser energy absorbed is dispersed in hair fiber and the heat destroys the root.

The risk of skin damage is very low, because the energy delivered by beam of laser is customized depending on skin pigmentation and skin hair. Do not think that laser treatment is completely painless. During the laser removal procedure a slight sting can be felt but comparing with waxing or epilating experienced pain things are much improved. It is a fact that most patients can face it without asking anesthesia. However those patients with very low pain tolerance can claim an application of a cream based anesthesia.

After the laser treatment skin goes pink and lasts that way for about one to two days. During this period the patient should feel a minor discomfort.

Laser removal treatment produces long term results. The hair can be removed excepting a possible tiny hair re-grow which can be easily handled using other procedures. On the some time, is a fact that it is not possible to treat very light shades of hair such as white, grey, light blonde etc. Tanned people with light hair cannot be treated. The treatment works best on light skinned people with dark hair. However, people with dark skin can be treated with only very specialized lasers available at very few clinics.
